Bomdesign began out of a love for books, paper and typography and developed into a company designing and transforming books and other printed materials into fascinating objects.
Bomdesign began prodcing booklamps already in 2004 and over the years has added new designs to it’s collection – each one possessing a strong sculptural quality. Increasingly, the forms of Bomdesign’s lights become less rigid and more organic. These lamps display thei ability to create poetic yet functional objects.
Their divers output, next to that of his Booklamp series, includes birdhouses and chairs made out of typographic billboards and also a pencilholder made from vinyl records.
The books that Bomdesign chooses for their designs are as they say waiting to have new life blown into them. “Some books have so much beauty in them, they might have lost their current function but certainly have the potential for a new one.”
Bomdesign finds it interesting to implement the qualities of the old material and to carry and accentuate the beauty thereof in his new designs. He tries to achieve a balance between the used material and the new product.
